General Juror Information

Juror Rights
You cannot be discharged by your employer for responding to a juror summons, so long as you provide copy of this summons to your employer immediately upon receipt.

Failure to answer Jury Summons
A person summoned for jury service who does not comply with the summons as required by law is subject to contempt of court punishable by a fine and/or incarceration.

Juror Fees
You will be paid $15.00 a day and .10 cents a mile.  Fees are subject to change by the Illinois General Assembly.  Payment is computed on the last day of your service week, and a check will be mailed to your home address within 14 days. 

Special Accommodations Jurors 
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, persons needing a reasonable accommodation should, no later than seven days before your jury service, contact the Jury Manager by phone at 309-672-6076 (or TDD at 1-800-526-0844).

To report an absence:
If illness or emergency prevents your attendance, contact the Jury Manager by phone at 309- 672-6076 (or TDD at 1-800-526-0844) between 8:30-9:00 AM.

Juror Attire
Jurors should dress in business casual.
Because temperatures vary in courtrooms and the assembly room, it is recommended to dress in layers.
Uniforms are not permitted.  Uniforms include, but are not limited to:  police officers, firefighters, military, security, Department of Corrections, nursing scrubs, EMT's or any other easily recognized uniform.  This also includes dress down versions of uniforms. 

Available Facilities 
There are restaurants close by.  A refrigerator and microwave is provided if you would like to bring a lunch. A variety of vending machines for soft drinks and food are available in the Courthouse.

Proof of Service
If your employer requires proof of attendance, you may obtain a certificate in the Jury Commission Office. A proof of service is also enclosed with your payment.
